Ran is from a poor family that lives in a tenement with many other poor people. All the tenement residents work in a local rice-planting, including her, surrounded by water and the peace that exists away from the urban centers, she learned to control her KI and manipulate water with the patience and concentration of the rural work. When she not working, she can be found taking care of her brothers or playing with water, sometimes both \o/

When she was about 11 years old, a stranger appeared begging for food and bed for one night, her parents helped him, but unfortunately he was running away from the Chinese mafia, that located the runaway, killed him and Ran's parents. During the attack, Lie used her KI to protect her brothers, but she was knocked down. After dominated, they convinced her to use her power as they want, by threating her brothers' lifes.

She has a normal life on the tenement, but when needed, the Chinese mafia contacts her to kill someone or rob something, these mafia stuff.
